Dr. Patricia Denson, MSW
Patricia Denson, MSW, brings more than 15 years of experience helping children, adolescents, adults, and families navigate emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Her approach to therapy is rooted in a simple belief: where a person has been does not have to determine where they are going.
With experience spanning behavioral health, psychosocial rehabilitation, crisis intervention, homelessness, reentry, and community-based services, Patricia understands that healing often involves more than addressing symptoms. She works with clients to uncover patterns, strengthen coping skills, rebuild confidence, improve emotional regulation and communication, and develop practical tools they can use beyond the therapy room.
Patricia incorporates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, strengths-based interventions, and psychoeducation. Her therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, direct, and nonjudgmental. She strives to create a space where clients can be honest about what they are experiencing while also being encouraged and challenged toward meaningful change.
What makes Patricia’s work especially meaningful is the perspective she brings to resilience and restoration. She understands that people can experience difficult seasons and still rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and hope. In 2023, Patricia was recognized as Chapman Partnership’s Success Story of the Year, an honor that reflects a personal journey of perseverance that continues to influence her commitment to helping others overcome barriers and recognize their own potential.
Beyond her clinical work, Patricia serves as Chair of the National Association of Social Workers – Florida Chapter (NASW-FL), Miami-Dade Unit, where she contributes to professional development, community engagement, advocacy, and strengthening the social work profession throughout the community.
Patricia holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Philosophy in recognition of her service, leadership, and commitment to uplifting others. She is currently pursuing Florida clinical licensure.
For Patricia, therapy is not simply about identifying what is wrong. It is about helping people recognize what is strong within them, understand what has happened to them, develop healthier ways of moving forward, and rediscover hope for what comes next.
“Your story may explain where you have been, but it does not have to determine where you are going.
